2005 TENNIS LEAGUE RULES & REGULATIONS
1.
All matches shall be played on date scheduled.2.
The scoring system shall be an eight point system; one point per set. This scoring system shall be used to determine league standings and league championships. The best win-loss record will determine the championship.a) In case of a tie for the championship, the following criteria will be used to break the tie:
i.) The team with the most points won in head to head competition between the tied teams will be declared the winner.
ii.) If a tie still exists, the team with the most points won versus the third place team, will be declared the winner.
b) Two sets will be played. A ten-minute allowance is made for lateness for the first set, followed by a second ten-minute period for forfeit of the second set.
Note: IN ORDER TO INVOKE THIS "LATENESS" RULE A PLAYER MUST:
i.) Use the wall clock at the Tennis Club as the official clock.
ii.) Have an employee of the Club in the presence of a player from the opposing team note the time.
c) In the event, both teams do not field players for a portion of the match, (i.e. - 1st Doubles has a Double Forfeit), that portion of the match will be scored 1-1.
d) When there is an incomplete second set of any match, the player ahead by two games shall be declared the winner. If a player is ahead of his/her opponent by only one game or if the score is tied, the point is then split between the players.
e) 9-point tiebreaker - If the score reaches 6 games all, the first player to win 5 points, wins the set. If it is your turn to serve, you serve points 1 and 2, from the right and left courts respectively. Your opponent then serves points 3 and 4, from the right and left courts. Players then change ends and you serve point 5 from the right court and, if necessary, point 6 from the left court. Your opponent serves point 7 and 8. If the score is now 4 points all, your opponent serves point 9, from the right or left court, as you designate. The score of the set is recorded as 7 games to 6. You "stay for one" after a tiebreaker and since you served first in the tiebreaker; your opponent serves first in the next set.
3.
New Championship yellow tennis balls shall be provided for each match by the home team; game balls remains the property of the home team.4.
Official score sheets, available at the reception desk of the tennis club, shall be used for every match and are the responsibility of the Home Team. The completed and signed score sheet shall be returned to the reception desk. The club will fax this information to MCIRA (927-5036). All score sheets must be complete. Any scores missing on the official score sheet will be treated as a tie. NO changes from the official score sheet sent to MCIRA will be accepted.MCIRA Tennis Rules & Regulations
